Row Boat Bird Feeder
by Catie Hayes of WomanLinks.com

You will need:
Empty, clean half gallon milk carton
Decorative materials: paint, construction paper, stickers, etc
Hole punch
Two lengths of yarn
2 slices of bread
Peanut butter
Bird seed

Summer is the perfect time to start bird watching. This project, a set of binoculars and a bird identification guide could give your child to a new appreciation of Nature in their own back yard.

Cut milk carton in half lengthwise. With the carton cut in this manner, it resembles a rowboat. Discard one half, and decorate the remaining half to your child's content. We ended up painting the outside of ours every color under the sun! Using the hole punch, make four holes, two on each side. String one length of yarn through each pair of holes. Tie each length off, so that you end up with two 'loops' of yarn coming from the boat. This will be your hanger.

Spread about 1/4 cup of peanut butter on the bread slices and place them in the birdfeeder. Sprinkle with birdseed and hang on a nearby tree or sheltered area. Unfortunately, this is not a weatherproof birdfeeder, so you will need to bring it in during foul weather.
