Crayon Fun
By Brenda Hyde

Dig out the crayons. In fact, make the kids scour the house looking in the nooks and crannies for all the crayons they can find, with the promise of fun crafts when they find all of them!

You'll need:
crayons
paper
colored markers
water color paint
paper clips

First activity
Use crayons to draw a nice picture, but make sure you press down hard as you are drawing, and don't color in the background of the picture. Next paint the entire picture, going over top of the picture and the background. Let the picture dry!

Second activity
Give each kid a piece of paper and a crayon, then send them all over the house or yard to find different "textures", such as a brick or patio stones etc. They should lay their paper over it and color so the texture shows on the paper. Tell them not to let the other kids see what they are using, and when they have their papers full come back to the kitchen, or wherever you have them playing. Now they all need to guess what the textures really are! Third activity
color a piece of paper with different colored markers-making a patchwork type effect that covers the entire paper. Take a black crayon and scribble a large section in the middle of the paper-size doesn't matter. The black should be pretty heavy, so you can't see the marker colors through it. Use a paper clip or a something hard that will scrape, and make designs in the black section. Where you scrape the colors will show through!
