These are charming tie backs to use during the summer
months inparticular, but they can be adapted to any time
of year by changing the flowers.
You will need:
dried flowers-rose buds or other small blooms
Spanish Moss
Glue gun
1/2 inch satin ribbon
Tie a length of the ribbon around your curtain
while gathering the fabric. Mark your length
of ribbon, showing where the ribbon covers the
front of the curtain. Cut the ribbon and lay it
flat on a work surface.
Glue bits of Spanish Moss along the area you marked,
which will be the part of the ribbon that is in the
front of the gathered curtain. You want the moss to
be evenly spaced and the same in fullness along the
area. If it looks a little too "wild" trim it a little
bit with scissors. Repeat for a second tie back.
Next, glue your rose buds or blooms into the moss
until the area is as full as you wish it to look. Trim
the moss of any stray ends you may have missed. When
the tiebacks are dry attach it to your curtains!
The dried
flowers do tend to get quite dusty after awhile, but
this is so easy and inexpensive that you can make new
ones each season! For variety try other dried flowers,
or cut apart holiday picks and glue on for some neat
seasonal looks.
