A Grandparent's Gift of Love: A Book Review
By Brenda Hyde

A Grandparent's Gift of Love
True Stories of Comfort, Hope and Wisdom

Edward Fays has touched my heart with his compassionate, inspirational writing. I had to read his book, A Grandparent's Gift of Love, a little at a time, because each story was too special to quickly go on to the next one. However, it wasn't only the heartwarming stories that made me love his book, it was the many faces of grandparenting that I found in the pages . My children are fortunate to have two sets of grandparents in their lives, as well as three great grandmothers. Each grandparent is unique, with different life experiences, and they touch us in many ways, some we don't even realize until later in our lives. We carry their lessons with us. Edward Fays shows us how we can use these memories to give us comfort and hope in times of need. He also shows us that we are all human, and have the same needs, regardless of our age.

A Grandparent's Gift of Love is book that should be read by men and women of all ages, from all walks of life. It will help us learn to connect with one another, to appreciate who our grandparents are, and who they helped us become. Fays says it best in the book's introduction:

"Perhaps the best we can do is try to benefit from all our life experiences and learn from the insights of those who came before us to help enrich our community, our nation, and possibly even our world. And to always live by the philosophy, It's not what happens to you, it's what you do with it that makes all the difference."

Don't read A Grandparent's Gift of Love because you have grandchildren. Read it because it will touch your heart as it did mine.
