Those herbs which perfume the air most delightfully,
not passed by as the rest, but, being trodden upon
and crushed, are three; that is, burnet, wild thyme
and watermints. Therefore, you are to set whole
alleys of them, to have the pleasure when you walk
or tread. ~Frances Bacon

HERBS & SPICES: PAMPERING RECIPES
With Mother's Day around the corner I wanted to
share some pampering recipes! We all know how
important it is for moms and grandma's to take care
of themselves and find those peaceful moments to
pamper themselves!
An Herbal Bath Bag
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon dried chamomile
1 tablespoon dried or fresh lavender leaves
1 tablespoon dried or fresh rosemary
1 tablespoon mint, thyme, or sage (dried or fresh)
Mix the herbs together into a small ceramic or glass
bowl. Pour bowling water over the mix, and steep for
10-20 minutes. Strain and add this to your bath water.
If you want a bubble bath simply add some baby bath
under the faucet and then add your bath tea.
Easy Herbal Eye Pillow:
You can make a simple herbal eye pillow for
heating or cooling and placing on your eyes by mixing
1/2 cup flax seed and 1/2 cup lavender and placing in
a simple sewn muslin square.
Oatmeal Rose and Honey Facial
Ingredients:
1/8 cup rose petals, minced
1/3 cup oatmeal, finely ground
4 tsp. honey
1 tsp. rose water or 2-3 drops rose essential oil
Mix together rose petals, oatmeal and honey until will
mixed. Blend in 1 teaspoon of rose water or oils. Apply
to your face after washing and allow it to stay on your
skin for a 1/2 hour. Rinse your face with warm water.
Lemon Verbena Hair Rinse
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons lemon verbena leaves
1 cup boiling water
Pour the boiling water over the lemon verbena leaves.
Steep for about an hour. Strain the mixture, discarding
herb. Use as a rinse after shampoo and conditioning
your hair.
