Every child needs to feel accepted and loved. It is a building block of their self-esteem. The unique qualities that make each of us special can also lead to 'feeling different'. This, in turn, can lead to feeling alone, or 'not right'.
It's Okay to Be Different is a colorful, playful celebration of these differences. Each page holds a fun cartoon character, and the reassurance that "it's okay to...."(be missing a tooth or two or three, be a different color, have wheels, say NO to bad things). My kids' personal favorite was 'It's okay to eat macaroni and cheese in the bathtub'
This book is fun, silly, and highly kid-friendly. Mr. Parr has done a fantastic job of presenting esteem-building affirmations for kids. Everything from the oversized lettering to the bright illustrations will strike a chord in your child's heart. The affirmations also make a great starting-point for your child's own 'It's okay to be...' statements and artwork.
