Painting with "Worms"
By Kathy Bennett

Fix one pound bag of spaghetti, linguine, etc noodles according to package directions. Coat with about 1 - 2 tablespoons veggie or mineral oil to keep pasta from sticking (I used mineral oil because I like the smell). Let cool.

In an pie tin or some other shallow dish, glop down about 1 - 2 tablespoons worth of tempera paint. Then give each child a handful of (cooled) noodles. Let the kids work the paint into the noodles. It feels gooey, but the kids loved it. Next, place the colored noodles on a piece of paper and "paint" with them.

This lets the kids explore three senses -- sight, smell, and touch. I didn't have any tasters last time we did this!
